Doyle Liddle

Educator and Biologist

PHS Class of 1926

Joseph Doyle Liddle epitomizes the idea of a "renaissance man," meaning he excelled in many different fields. After graduating from Payson High School in 1926, Doyle attended the University of Utah and Brigham Young University, earning both a bachelor's and master's degree in biology. He also did academic work at the University of Wyoming's Institute of Biology and Radiobiology, The University of Southern California's Biology Institute, Denver University, and Utah State University.

In addition to owning and operating a local apple and cherry orchard and working as an entomologist for the Del Monte Canning Company, Liddle proudly served as a teacher and counselor at Payson High School for 43 years. He taught diverse subjects like biology, genetics, world history, photography, and yearbook. He also served the community as a member of the Payson Lions Club and a reporter for the Deseret News.
