Robert McMullin was pillar of the Payson community for many years. Born in 1884, he graduated high school in 1902 before Payson High School was established in 1912. After high school he attended Brigham Young University, the University of Utah, and Utah State University. In 1913, he graduated from USU as the valedictorian with a degree in agriculture.

In 1927, Robert founded McMullin Orchards by planting sweet cherries. His small orchard has grown over the years to become a major fruit grower, and is currently operated by the fourth generation of McMullins. In addition to agriculture, McMullin was also an accomplished attorney in the Payson area, including both a private practice and serving as Payson City Attorney. In between all of those other endeavors, he found time to teach school in Nephi, UT. He also belonged to the Odd Fellows Lodge and the Payson Lions Club.
