PHS Welders Win Nebo Invitational Competition

Payson High School Welding competed at the Nebo Invitational on Dec. 17, 2021 at Provo High. There were 6 competitors, three for welding and three for fabricating from PHS. This was the 12th annual rivalry and Payson was there to make a statement! In all the years of this competition PHS had never taken home the traveling trophy, through the efforts of these participants Payson is now the new home for Welding Traveling Trophy.

New Hall of Fame Inductee: Jay Jolley

We are pleased to announce the induction of Jay Jolley, class of 1970, into the PHS Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame for his extraordinary accomplishments as a world-renowned ballet dancer and dance educator.

PHS Cheer Win Region Competition

A huge congratulations to our cheer team for representing Payson High School very well at Region last weekend. They placed 1st out of 10 teams and we are so proud!

Welcome Jeremy Taylor, our new head custodian!

PHS is thrilled to announce the hiring of Jeremy Taylor as our new Head Custodian (to replace the retiring Von Dansie). Mr. Taylor comes to us from being the head custodian at Springville High School, which, as many of you know, shares the same floor plan as PHS. Mr. Taylor is bringing with him many years of experience, a keen eye for excellence, and a deep love for the PHS community. Mr. Taylor, welcome to the Lion Pride!

Aaron Garcia Wins Boxing National Title and Joins Team USA

Aaron Garcia Jr., currently a senior at PHS, just took first place at the 2021 USA Boxing National Championships in Shreveport, Louisiana. He won the the elite division of the 112 pound weight class. Winning this national championship title secured a place for him to train with Team USA at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, starting this summer. In addition to being a national champion boxer, Aaron is also a PHS state wrestling champion.

Payson High School wishes all of you a wonderful and happy holiday break! Enjoy the time. Be safe. Remember that the school will be closed from December 18 to January 2. Classes will resume on Monday January 3, 2022. (And don’t forget that Term 2 ends on Thursday January 13.)

 

Student Advocate Catrina Jones featured on Disney's "Foodtastic" Series

Our very own Catrina Jones, student mentor (advocate), was a contestant/participant on the new Disney+ cooking show called "Foodtastic."  The show came out yesterday, December 15th. Check her out on episode 6!  She is exceptionally talented.

Our beloved janitor, Von Dansie, is retiring at the end of this month. We will miss him dearly.
