PHS Girls Basketball: Shooting for a Good Season

It’s that time again; time for girls basketball to begin. Jumping into a new season, we have high hopes for the players. For years our girls basketball team has shown some seriously amazing talent, and this year promises to uphold that grand tradition. Our entire team (coaches and girls) are very dedicated and love what they do.

PHS Wrestling Season Begins

 As the Wrestling season begins we watch the strong, young men wrestling for Payson High School prepare for another State Championship.  

Practices started Monday November 7 and the competitive matches start the first week of December, so let’s all get pumped to cheer on our amazing wrestling boys and watch them get another State Championship trophy.

The night was fun filled with creative performances by Mr. Andrew Wright, singing his rendition of Bonnie Tyler’s: I Need a Hero; the Paysetters in whimsical purple and lime green leopard print; and an innovative dance number by the Dance Co. to nothing but the beat of a heart.

PHS Latinos in Action Join Community to Help Others

Together with Taylor Elementary, the students of Latinos in Action of Payson High have come together to raise money to donate to Make a Wish Foundation. Ivan Cardenas, LIA leader, hopes the community will unite for this great cause.

 “I believe Payson has the power to come together as a community and make a difference,” said Cardenas.

       On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in1918, the Armistice was signed and World War I reached its end. Armistice Day was celebrated the next year under President Woodrow Wilson. Twelve years later, Armistice Day became a National Holiday that we now know as Veteran’s Day.

PHS Girls Soccer: Good Finish to Great Season

           Our Lady Lion Girls Soccer team did very well this year! They took 3rd in region and had the opportunity to go to state. Unfortunately they went against a tough opponent Bear River for their first state game, and sadly they weren’t able to go any farther.

PHS Musical Preview: The Sound of Music

This year’s musical is none other than the Sound of Music. Everybody including Assistant Director Marilyn Morgan, knows that “it’s the musical of all musicals.” With second chances at love, a little war history, and singing nuns, PHS is ready to take on the challenge!
